Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates have played in the National League for more than
100 seasons. Named originally for their 1890 "pirating" of a player from a
rival club, the Pirates played first at Exposition Park on the North Side before
moving to Forbes Field in 1909. Six decades later while playing at Three Rivers Stadium,
the team recorded one of the most extraordinary decades of performance in league history highlighted by two World Series Championships in
1971 and 1979.
